Inside

Above, the room in which I spend most of my computer time, when not gazing out the window...
These walls were covered with gloss white beadboard wainscotting, and the tub replaced with a large shower. Ben Moore Healing Aloe, a pale aqua, it's perfect!

The "art" in this bathroom are the title and tax statement of Daryl's father's Model T Ford, 1924

Used to be a row of upper cabinets above the bar/eating area. Taking them out gave us lake view from the kitchen. All the lower walls are covered in wainscotting, which used to be a walnut stain, as was the trim throughout the house. I painted all of it in Ben Moore Classic Grey. The upper walls were herringbone pattern wallpaper in tan and brown, which I painted B. Moore Revere Pewter, another shade of grey. After painting my house in town lots of gorgeous color, it seemed appropriate to use subtle tones out here, no use competing with the view...

I asked for a drawer organizer, never expecting this! But, I love it! And look how great the silverware looks in it! Seriously, this is the silver my father's parents gave my parents when they got married in 1960 and we use it every day. It's so happy in this perfect drawer!

Daryl's mom's antique jars - used for storing beans, rice, pasta, etc.

My special request: A cookbook and cookie sheet nook! great use of space above the fridge...

The layout of the kitchen did not change, but everything else did, including flooring, which is now Marmoleum. I love Marmoleum! I love this kitchen! Skylights add lots of light. Ben Moore Historical Color, Boothbay Gray.

The curtained area used to be L shaped upper and lower cabinets with a countertop, and very narrow drawers. Now it is floor to ceiling, left to right, stainless steel shelving, purchased from a restaurant supply store, to create a pantry.
Used to be a wall with cabinets above the dishwasher and bar area, seperating the kitchen from the dining room and living room. We took them out, leaving a supporting post, so the kitchen is no longer isolated from the main open areas of the house. The rug under the kitchen sink is one of the three antique Persian rugs my parents purchased in 1962. Why "save" possessions for special occaisions? I admire and love this rug every day, it reminds me of my parents in a very good way.
Laundry room (with closet) off the kitchen now has a door and small porch.

Living area faces the deck and the lake. Daryl replaced two window with french doors a few years ago. Pellet stove in the corner keeps us warm all winter long!

The only tub that was 60 inches long and 42 inches deep front to back (from the wall to the shower curtain) is this American Standard. It is extra deep and comfy! I swear there is room for four or five if you want to come over!
We replaced two interior swinging bathroom doors with sliding louvered doors! Daryl is a genius!

Daryl added electrical outlets to the inside of the medicine cabinets! Is there anything this man cannot do?

What do you mean I'm OCD...

We ordered a custom vanity so that we could move the sink from the center to the far left. This accomodated existing plumbing and gave us three wide drawers. We added two symmetrical mirrored cabinets. And I got this $200 Koehler faucet brand new on ebay for only $20! This bathroom has never been so functional or pretty! Master bath paint is B. Moore November Rain, a very subtle shade of grey/green/beige...

Old blue armoire in the cabinet we are using as our dresser, since the bedroom now has none. B. Moore Cedar Key, a very dreamy, milky, taupe-y grey. Chocolate and charcoal navy are our accent colors, since I was definite we did not want a feminine bedroom.
Where the head of the bed is is where the closet used to be and we figured it made more sense for us to wake up to the view through the glass doors than the closet, so, we ripped it out and relocated it to the laundry room. Actually, this is really handy because clothes go from the dryer right into the closet!
